The Mad Hatter's Tea Party

It takes a whole lot of grit and determination to believe what the European Union (EU) wants me to. After all, when one is expected to pretend to be a fool and look all shocked and surprised, it does involve a whole lot of hard work.

So, I am supposed to believe that the EU is 'furious' about claims that the United States of America (USA) was spying on them!

Haha! Actually, rather than shocked, I am pretty amused. I am amused that the EU is pretending to be this naive lady who has just walked out of the nineteenth century and into the twenty first, and doesn't quite believe that breathing is just the same as it was in the century she left behind!

So downright silly, really!

I am no authority on espionage. And I really really know nothing much of the state of affairs in the USA and the EU. But it doesn't require knowledge of all that to think the USA not capable of spying on ANY country at all!

USA has always been poking its nose everywhere. Even its Hollywood studios acknowledge that and have ensured it is the central theme for several dozen movies that come tumbling out of its production houses. So, even if you want to believe that:

  • The USA doesn't use its spyglass
  • The NSA has enough of work at home to bother about
  • The CIA bothers only about people in the USA
and that
  • American satellites only gather information about the weather and Osama Bin Laden,
one look at the Mission Impossible series, The Bourne series, and several other such enterprises will give you enough reasons to reconsider your 'faith'.

But put all this aside - if you think it too frivolous and too cheesy to base anything on - and just think: Can a Union that is so technologically advanced and superior in its talent and politicking not know of any espionage attempts whatsoever? Can a country in this day and age discount history and pretend all is well and not bother to check if its files have seen eyes they were not meant for?

Can you believe no one ever knew?
