I stood and stood
By the side of the road
Till the traffic did erode.
I crossed and lo and behold!
Another lane to stroll.
So there I stood and stood
By the side of the roll.
The cars tumbled in,
The buses rumbled out;
I took my breath in,
And wished I had blacked out.
The clouds kept to themselves.
The breeze adjusted its veil.
My life sat on those shelves.
And chose to cover its tale.
By the side of the road
Till the traffic did erode.
I crossed and lo and behold!
Another lane to stroll.
So there I stood and stood
By the side of the roll.
The cars tumbled in,
The buses rumbled out;
I took my breath in,
And wished I had blacked out.
The clouds kept to themselves.
The breeze adjusted its veil.
My life sat on those shelves.
And chose to cover its tale.
